Anybody use Primus Canada as their ISP? If so, a question about Thunderbird and smtp and...

I recently got Primus Canada as my ISP and I'm quite happy with it, except for one thing: I can't send any email using Thunderbird and smtp. Receiving mail is fine, just no sending. I'm constantly asked for my password, which I happily give, but the connection is refused. Anybody hope me?

I don't use Primus, but judging by this I am guessing that under your Outgoing Server (SMTP) settings in Thunderbird, you have to check the "Use Name and Password" box and enter your User Name in the space provided. If your email information isn't working, try using the password you use to log into your ISP (assuming it is Dial-up).

Are you using your Primus account or one from your own domain or another provider or something?

I am not familiar specifically with Primus, but many providers will block access to smtp servers that are not theirs. Even if you are not using their account for email, you might need to use that account on that smtp server to get the mail out.

When you specify Thunderbird, are you saying that it does work with other email software but not with Thunderbird?
