Watering Hole Near Shea Stadium?

Shea Stadium Filter: Looking for a pre-game staging area before Thursday nights game since tailgating isn't allowed...

Looking for a decent bar to hang out in early to get warmed up, with parking nearby (paid is fine) that is either near the stadium (or outlying lots) or near a 7 train stop. Thanks!

I would look east on Northern Blvd. Not sure of anything specific, but I parked there for a Yankee Met game and there were lots of neighborhood bars and an easy ride to the stadium.

Best answer: I just got back from the game. As always, tailgating is not a problem. Just drink your beer out of a coffee cup (a cop making the rounds saw us doing this and advised, "If you guys are drinking, drink out of a coffee cup, that would be a really good idea.") and be discreet about your grilling. I didn't see a single person get a ticket, and there was plenty of beer and grilling. (This is in the main parking lot.)

Best answer: If you're taking the 7 train out there, Donovan's is on the way and has a fun atmosphere and awesome burgers.

Response by poster: All excellent answers! thanks... I want to mark them all best!

Uncleozzy, what exactly is "discreet grilling".... Based on your advice... I've packed my disposable coffee cups :)

May end up doing best of both worlds... packing some beer, parking at the stadium early... hop on a train/walk/cab to a local bar to watch the other playoff games and eat some wings.... head back a few hours before game time and tailgate sans grilling.
