Every time I start up Firefox, the search box is turned to Yahoo and GreaseMonkey is disabled. How do I ajust this?

What version of FireFox? As far as I know, GreaseMonkey is not compatible with the latest betas and that might be why it's disabled.

If it is v2, then goto Tools->Add-Ons and make sure that the Extensions section is selected by clicking on the button near the top of the dialog. If it is disabled due to compatibility issues, then it will tell you in the little blurb below the extension description. If it's not, then highlight GreaseMonkey and enable the extension (Tools->Extensions in pre-v2 FF).

As for the search location, open a new tab and type about:config. Filter through the options using "search" in the filter text box and change the following:
browser.search.defaultenginename = Google
browser.search.order.1 = Google

That should do the trick.

When in doubt, uninstall and reinstall...
