Sony Vaio Desktop Wierdness: My Sony Vaio Desktop has started to bleep and the illuminated logo on the front flashes for no apparent reason. Any ideas why?

The model is PCV-RS222, and my google-fu is not coming up with anything, neither is there anything in the manual. It will start flahing and beeping, then stop again. it is damned irritating. Any insight gratefully recieved

Have you tried flashing the BIOS?

Years ago I saw something like this... More than irritating, the blinking exhausted the battery. Outlook or another calendaring application had gotten switched to issue audio and visual alerts. I found a setting in the vendor-specific setup apps.

All I know about VAIOs is "overheating, overheating and overheating". Is it hot where you/the computer are?
