Faking a Blogger comment

On Blogger, is it possible to post a comment that appears to have been made by another (registered) user? This is without the post having been made using a stolen or guessed password.

Why do you want to do this? I'm sure your IP can probably be traced.

Best answer: Yup. You just click "Other" and then type in the user name and the URL. It's superficial, of course. There are ways to discover that it is a fraud.

Response by poster: I'm not interested in doing this myself. It happened to someone I know and I wanted to help him to find out how.

Thanks, GIRLesq, that must be it. It's funny how simple it is to do. How can you distinguish a fake one from a real one?

I don't think this works for all blogs - If they select the option: "Who can comment? Only registered users", then commenters have to sign in before they can comment, yes?

Best answer: Yep, just tested it - GIRLesq's technique only works if the blog allows anonymous comments.

Other things to note: if the blog allows user pics next to comments, I can't see a way to fake the user pic.
