Streaming audio server statistics

ObscureStatisticsFilter: Help me find usage and market adoption statistics for major streaming audio servers.

I'm looking for usage numbers for streaming audio servers to help me estimate each one's marketshare. Icecast vs. RealMedia vs. ShoutCast vs. Windows Media Server, etc.

Terrestrial, internet-only, hobbyist, pro, whatever: something like: "In 2004, X stations were serving audio with RealMedia, Y stations with ShoutCast, and Z stations with Windows Media Server" and so on.

I'd like to see some sort of one-versus-the-other breakdown - or links and cites to help me ad-hoc something along these lines.

Are you interested in format sahre or server share. They will eb different. A Real Helix server, for example can serve up Windows Media and many other formats in addition to RealAudio and RealVideo.

A starting point is http://www.streamingmedia.com/

Response by poster: Server share. I've been all over that site and others, google, etc and cannot find what I am looking for. I'm hoping some industry types may have memory of/access to a report or something that addresses this.

I used to be in the streaming industry and I think this is going to be a very hard number to come up with--even one that's plausible with a large margin of error. Sorry I can't be of more help.
