I'm looking to buy two stud earrings of a suitable material to heal an ear piercing. Do I really need titanium, or is surgical stainless steel still ok? I'm pretty sure I used steel in the piercings I had as a teenager and had no reaction, but I keep reading that titanium is preferable. Looking for a place that ships to Canada - free shipping ideal, minimal shipping ok. Overwhelmed by all the info about fake jewellery, so I just want someplace I know I can trust.

I've been very happy with Bodyartforms (link to their shipping info).

I also have been fine with surgical steel in healing piercings, so there's that. But I was also using jewelry purchased from a reputable body piercing shop. A healing piercing wouldn't be a great time to find out that different steel alloy from your previous jewelry is more irritating, or that you've developed a sensitivity to nickel since you were younger. There are options beyond titanium. I personally would be a little extra cautious with jewelry I was buying from a third party, and not get surgical steel for fresh piercings.

Body Manipulations is highly reputable (where I've gotten the majority of my piercings and jewelry, including custom pieces) and it looks like they ship to Canada. They are also very helpful, in my experience, answering questions about aftercare and healing.

I buy almost all my earrings from elevado on Etsy which is a Canadian shop.
