NYC Chiropractor for Pinched Nerve recs?

Does anyone know of a good NYC chiropractor (or other specialist) who could be effective in treating a pinched nerve.

It's been going on for 6 months. I've done physical therapy but it's painfully lingering. I don't have insurance that will cover it FYI. Thanks!

Dr. Thomas Kearn, DC, at Verte Health cares about his patients and is working to move the profession into a more evidence-based paradigm.

You'll hear a lot of hate about chiropractic on Metafilter, but several chiropractors are working to fix the problems of the past, and Dr. Kearn is helping to lead the way.

Get a recommendation/referral if required by your insurance, but NO chiropractor! Find a PT or an ortho. Chiropractors.are....bananas rogue etc

Is the pinched nerve in your neck? Please don't
go to a chiropractor especially if so. People have been gravely injured by chiropractors. I'm also a migraine sufferer and my neuro told me to never go to a chiropractor. Have you tried massage therapy? A specialist who works with the area with the pinched nerve...maybe a sports specialist -- bet they treat a lot of pinched nerves.

Yes! You should see a physiatrist. A physiatrist is an actual doctor who studies the interaction of the spine and nerves. The Hospital for Special Surgery has great ones, including Alice Chen. (Don't be alarmed by the name of HSS; most physiatrists are very anti-surgery and help people recover without those kinds of intervention.)

Unfortunately, chiropractic isn't actual medicine, it's voodoo witchcraft that sometimes paralyzes people. For nerve damage and slipped discs and the like, it's the last thing you want to do.

Nerve damage of various sorts can take up to a year to begin healing properly, depending on what you're doing for it, how you're letting it rest, and so on.

I have a PT that does a lot of hands on manipulation and is what I imagine people want from chiropractors, but with the schooling of a PT. I’ve been seeing her about a bunch of things, including nerve pain caused by posture/alignment issues.

She’s currently practicing in Downtown Brooklyn, unfortunately out of network and not cheap. MeMail me if you want the name.

The effect could have been a placebo. But I had a pinched nerve (in my neck) and I was really suffering. A friend suggested acupuncture as it really helped her. I was very hesitant — pseudoscience and quack medicine practices and all that — but it really helped!
