Mystery object ID, has keyring

A friend found this item in the back of their dishwasher when cleaning it out. What the heck is it? The ring is a typical keychain ring.

It sure looks a lot like a lynch or hitch pin or something, but I'm not certain if it's the right size. It's close, anyway.

Best answer: Since it’s in the dishwasher, it’s probably the center pin of a folding steamer basket like this one.
