I need help finding a romance book from a short series by the same single woman author, written in the late 80s or early 90s. Setting was during horse jousting tournament times.
In the book I'm looking for, the families are sworn enemies because iirc of a mom or stepmom running away or captured by the other family.
So the daughter in the family was disguised as a boy and raised as one for her safety. She's kinda wild and feralish.
A son from the other family is in disguise and working the tournament as her brother's... I can't remember the word. Horse butler? He also helps put on the armor. And he realizes she's a girl and falls for her because she's not like "other girls."
There's a weird secret deal between them that if he gets the brother to win, she'll marry him.
Iirc on her wedding night she pulled a knife on him while stark naked.
At one point after they marry the husband is accused of a crime he didn't commit and gets banished from the brother's castle or keep, and eventually she realizes this and goes after him to live at his family home amongst her enemies.
I think the author's first name is a J name.
The other books are about her brothers finding wives.
Ring bells?

Looks like Velvet Song by Jude Deveraux, specifically.
