How to prevent my Pixel phone from turning on screen display?

I have a Pixel 8 phone. It defaults to my screen saver (black, with big digital clock, but this is irrelevant), BUT whenever the phone moves, like, even getting jostled in my purse when I walk, the home screen appears.

I assume that the home screen takes up much more battery life than the screen saver. So then I have to push a button on the side to make the screen saver come up again.

Is there any way to tell it to stay on the screen saver until I do something like press a button? this is ALL about saving my battery power. Otherwise I don't care.

Is this 'Lift to Wake' on the lock screen settings page?

Okay, here is something to check:

Settings -> Display -> Peek Display
If Peek Display is on there should be a gear icon down on the (left?) part of the screen for Peek Display settings. Hit that gear icon to get another settings menu. (Peek Display settings)

Choosing the Wake Display menu in Peek Display settings should bring up some checkboxes. One is a "double tap to wake" option. One is a "move to wake" option. Uncheck the "move to wake" box.

Not sure if there's a difference between Pixel versions/phone brands/whatever, but I don't see a Peek Display option in the settings of my Pixel 7. But I can go to System > Gestures and turn off 'Lift to check phone' (I left 'Tap to check phone' on). Just in case that helps...

Turns out the tap/lift options are also on the Display > Lock Screen page.

Oops, Peek Display is a Moto thing. Not a Pixel thing.

Do you have a lock screen (pin or fingerprint lock) set up? I would not expect a locked phone to get to the home screen with it.

If you don't have a lock screen set up, your data is at risk. You can set it up under Settings -> Security -> Device Unlock
