Rent in Sarajevo to go to Montenegro

We're planning on renting a car in Sarajevo and driving into Montenegro, maybe Albania and Macedonia. a) What rental company is more trustworthy and b) will we have any trouble or need anything special to cross the borders c) anything else we should know?

This will be late October, so not touristy months.

I'd suggest calling/emailing local (to Sarajevo) rental companies. I was not allowed to take a rental from an EU country (Italy) to Croatia when Croatia was not an EU country. This was a car-rental rule, not a legal regulation.

I'd contact a rental agency in Sarajevo and ask about driving their car into the countries you mentioned - it's likely to be less a legal issue and more a rental-car issue.

Do you plan to return to Sarajevo or do you envision this to be a one way? It will be next to impossible to find a company that will let you return to another country. Not even the large international ones. They have separate legal entities, fleet contracts and insurance policy for each country so they will not accept a return in another country.
