2024 USA Presidential election: Who to donate to / volunteer for who is working both to register dem-leaning voters AND to find/inform/re-enfranchise dem-leaning voters who may have been scrubbed from the rolls?

There are 100 days till the 2024 USA presidential election. Clearly, voter registration efforts are vital. However, there are systematic attempts to scrub voters from rolls in many states in a far-reaching, decentralized right-wing plan. In swing states this could make a difference.

Who is working to make sure
i)potential voters are registered, AND
ii) even if they think they are registered, check they *remain* registered, and re-register if they have been scrubbed?

Background

As the articles note: even when they fail, the challenges have consequences. In some states, a challenge alone is enough to limit a voter’s access to a mail ballot, or to require additional documentation at the polls. Privately, activists have said they consider that a victory.

The Environmental Voter Project identifies non-voting super environmentalists and turns them into reliable voters using evidenced based techniques. They track their effectiveness by measuring results against control districts that they don't target. (These are not necessarily Democratic voters, but they are voters who list climate change ond other environmental issues as their #1 policy priority, so go figure.)

For example, yesterday they posted on threads that "1,074 of the low propensity climate voters we're mobilizing have already voted early for the 7/30 Arizona Primary! These are all *first-time* voters, and now that they've voted in a primary, they're a lock to cast a ballot in November. Onward!"

Check out the New Pennsylvania Project. They are modeled on the New Georgia Project and are committed to registering young people, people of color, and immigrants in Pennsylvania. As of May, they've registered 40,000 voters and aim to register 20,000 more before this election's deadline.

Best answer: Mobilize lets you filter volunteer opportunities based on those working on vote curing - for example: Mobilize events focused on ballot curing (and here's a Virginia one from the past), and here are events focused on voter registration. You could keep checking for voter registration and ballot curing events and give time or money to the organizations sponsoring them.

Vote Riders (see the wiki page for the scope of their operation, which is large). You can make a tax-deductible donation, and they welcome volunteers.

Response by poster: So, these are all good orgs re:voter reg. Ballot curing is close. But given the news articles I linked to above, who is focusing specifically on the continual monitoring and re-enfranchisement of people who have been unjustly purged in swing states?

If your bathtub has a leak, one way is to fill it with more water. the other is to plug the leak.

Best answer: You may want to take a look at fair fight which is Georgia-based, but does some work in other states if I recall correctly.

Best answer: Field Team 6 does Democratic 'voter registration in battleground states and flippable districts. ... laser-focused on registering young people, women, and people of color... In-person and digitally using a unique scored database of millions of “unregistered likely Dems”'. On preview: Field Team 6 are indeed filling the tub with more water.

A lot of franchise protection happens with legal challenges at the state level, but some accessible national organizations protecting the franchise include the Voter Protection Project, Election Protection from Common Cause, League of Women Voters, Voting Rights Alliance. Programs and sites to check voter status include Vote.org, When We All Vote created by Michelle Obama, and Vote 411 from the LWV.

“This is a convenient tool for any voter who wants to secure their voter registration by cancelling their old one when they move out of state,” said Raffensperger. “It will also help keep Georgia’s voter registration database up-to-date without having to rely on postcards being sent and returned by an increasingly inefficient postal system.”

Voters who wish to cancel their registration will simply access the site, enter their secret personal identifying information (such as Drivers License/State ID # or Full/Partial SSN), and indicate that they wish to be removed from the list of registered voters. County voter registration officials will receive a notification through GARViS and remove the voter from the rolls.
