What Did I Eat?

Last week I ate some kind of pickled vegetable and I'm trying to identify exactly what it was.

It was served in a charcuterie set with other items like olives, cornichons, and pickled pearl onions. This was in a theater setting where no photos were allowed, but here's my best recollection:

It was a small round bulb approximately half an inch wide with a long stem. Green in color (I think; it was fairly dark). The bulb was bite-sized so I didn't see what was inside, but in my mouth it felt like seeds, like some kind of pepper. There was no heat, though; the flavor was typical pickle vinegar and salt.

Here is a drawing which may or may not be entirely accurate.

Anyone familiar with whatever these are?
