What happened in the Saint John NB Home Depot 2 days ago?

My mother says she was in the Home Depot in Saint John, New Brunswick on June 5 and that a group of police — "not the regular police" — entered the store and locked it down, forcing shoppers and staff to stand (not sit!) at one end of the store until things were clear and that this took 2 to 3 hours. They were then let go witout explanation. I can find nothing in the news. What happened?

My mother does not know what task for it was, just that they were all wearing uniforms but not usual cop uniforms and they and very large guns, though not shotguns.

If she has access to Nextdoor, someone will surely have the answer. This is a topic very popular on my local Nextdoor.

If not Nextdoor, then a neighborhood group on Facebook, or even Reddit will likely have more info.

Call all of the local TV stations' news departments and ask them about it. It's an interesting story. Also call the police community relations number yourself and ask them. You might get someone at either place who knows or can find out.

Did you ever find out the answer to this?

If not - Are you positive your mother’s recollection is correct? I can’t help but think of carbon monoxide poisoning or other factors that might create a false memory. Apologies if this is an unwelcome comment and I hope you got/get to the bottom of this!
