What song / theory is this?

There is a song about the perfect day or the best day ever or similar and the internet used details from the lyrics like the weather and the outcome of a baseball game to determine what day in history it could have actually been about. Does this sound familiar? What's the song? Where can I find the theory?

Best answer: The song is "It Was A Good Day" by Ice Cube and the investigation is here on Tumblr.

Response by poster: One minute! Thank you!

My mother not wildly impressed by Internet sleuths figuring out the date of the good day, but very impressed by MetaFilter answering my question so quickly.

January 20, 1992 was the 'good day' referenced in the song (here's the video). There's been write ups and it was also featured on Metafilter.

There was also "Tom's Diner" which references Wednesday, November 18th, 1981 (Mefi) which required only a couple of clues to sort out.

Though FWIW Ice wasn't actually writing about a particular day, he just wrote about a bunch of good things and the internet found a day that fitted.

(Source: my friend met Ice a few years ago and asked him).
