Yes. The R C Harris Water Treatment Plant. Absolutely loaded with large scale technical and industrial stuff.

Oh, looks like the Portlands Energy facility will be open (hard hat supplied), and Redpath Sugar, the Railway Museum and Steam Whistle Brewery. These seem perfect for a 9 year old mincraft fan. See full list.

It's free! It's a chance to visit random things and see if they're fun in unexpected ways!

I would strongly consider printing out a list of all the venues in a certain area, cutting up the printout into separate small pieces of paper, folding them in half, then choosing them from a hat/bowl/pile.

If you end up picking something that _sounds_ boring, like, "1884 Tax Processing Office", go _anyway_. You never know what it will actually be like! There could be something very Minecraft-y at an old tax office! Or you could end up using it as inspiration later!

Plus, you know there are other options nearby - you can always just leave after 10 minutes if it's boring. And then make jokes for the next 30 years about how boring it was!

If you go to the water treatment plant consider adding in:

- a walk over to the park at the bottom of Silverbirch along the lake
- come up Beech Ave to Queen
- if you like old-school westernized Chinese, eat at The Garden Gate restaurant (otherwise known as The Goof due to a burned out Good Food sign)
- get an ice cream at Ed’s Real Scoop
- if you go on Saturday the Fox Theatre is playing Kiki’s delivery service at 12:15 and Princess Mononoke at 6:15 pm

Or if you want a good other kind of meal, eat at ViVetha right near the plant and then go to Ed’s.

P.S. that’s how we’ve done Doors Open with our kids when they were smaller - explore the neighborhood as well.

I'm psyched to visit KITE, deep underground!

If they like airplanes/airports: Island Airport and Ornge Air Ambulance is participating. Getting to the island is a fun (very short!) ferry ride or a neat deep tunnel walkway. Best to take the TTC, as there is very little parking down there.
