Where can I find abundant seaweed in or near New York City?

For an art project, I'd like to look at and photograph a lot of seaweed, and take home a bit of it. Where can I find abundant seaweed washing up on the beach in June, in or near New York City? Ideally accessible by public transit, but it doesn't have to be.

Staten Island - park at the north end of South Beach, walk north into Ft. Wadsworth Beach, where they don't have lifeguards/don't clean the beach. Lots of seaweed, among other things, washing up on shore.
