Wrap My Mac

I want to find a specific kind of sleeve for my new MacBook air.

In 2008, I had a MacBook Pro, and to go along with it I got this nifty Waterfield’s Suede Jacket Sleeve for it. (Note that it wasn’t real suede, but a synthetic stretchy Ultrasuede). Later, I switched to desktop Macs for a while. But now, I have a new M3 MacBook Air on order, and I see that Waterfield’s no longer makes these sleeves, and now sells an IMHO inferior neoprene sleeve, and real leather is much more expensive and bulky.

Is there anything available out there that has this combination of thin, light and elegant that’s strong enough to not get ripped to shreds in a few months?

I tried searching on Google, but of course the results were garbage.

What about felt? Etsy has a lot of options for this and many other fabrics.

Kalidi has this item on Amazon that seems to fit your needs. No separate neoprene (tm) layer inside, but simple enough.

I would pick up two sheets of cheap felt and a package of Kraft-Tex "vegan leather," and then sandwich that felt inside the Kraft-Tex to make a nice sleeve.

I stitched up some felt into a plain sleeve for an iPad in a few minutes and it works great. (Adding the Kraft-Tex would just be there for durability and style.)

You may find something at dBrand, including a leather one for not stupid money.
