Two Kobos - One Account, with Subscription?

As per my previous question I paid for a koboReads subscription for a month because it actually has a series my son has been begging for. I also put some other books on and will side-load some other books. Ok, but now what about my kobo? Can can we keep different books on each kobo or is it going to fill my kobo with his books and books with mine?

I know that books that we side-load will only be on the kobo we put it on, but what about the subscription stuff. He has all these series with like 20-30 books each. I don't want my kobo listing cluttered up with all that, but are they all going to appear under "My books" so I can barely find mine? And will my books by showing up on his? I don't think he would read them, but I certainly don't want him to.

Response by poster: Oh, I've set his kobo up but mine is wiped clean, which is why I'm asking now before I try to sign mine in to the account and all hell breaks loose.

I don't have a definitive answer for this, but I do know that you can easily create and manage collections of Kobo books, so you can create separate collections for both of you, making it easier for you to find your books. You certainly don't have to have all of either collections downloaded from the Kobo store to either device.

You can also easily search for and sort books on the Kobo, which will help prevent "loss."

My experience: no matter what I do, when I synch my kobo it downloads my kids’ books. I delete them, and they stay off. The “my books” section is huge, but I have a “mom” collection for my books, and only my stuff is downloaded. Caveat: now we have about 100 collections with dumb names like “sibling likes poop” and “pee”. So once you demonstrate collections, they can easily get out of hand.

One more quirk: I’ve set up all 3 kobos with our individual library cards for overdrive, but when I sync, it often downloads my son’s, and I need to resync to get my overdrive stuff showing.
