The only word I'm sure of is "mesenteries"

Help me find this mid-century comedy sketch about a man preparing to perform amateur surgery on his friend.

Some years ago, I found on the internet a handful of recordings of a comedy duo and I'd can't remember their names or how to find them again. What I remember is that they were both men, these were audio recordings, and my recollection is that they were working in the 1950s or 1960s. I only remember the substance of one, but my recollection is that there were several with the same sort of format but regarding different topics.

The one that I have the clearest memory of was staged as an interview, either the one member of the duo was interviewing the other, or else the two were interviewing a third straight man. The conceit was that the one comedian had been studying up on how to perform a surgery, perhaps an appendectomy, in order to perform the surgery on his friend, but he'd called a doctor just to check up and clarify his thinking before he got started. And the most specific detail is that I remember the doctor explaining that the comedian would have to cut through the mesenteries early in the surgery, to which the comedian replied something like, "oh, yeah, the mesenteries, I read about those".

If you have any idea what this might have been, the name of the duo or anything to help me remember this, I'd love to know it. Thank you.

I don't know what you're recalling, but it's giving big Stan Freberg energy for me.

Best answer: I'm pretty sure you're thinking of a Coyle and Sharpe piece where they are asking a druggist for advice on performing amateur surgery.

Coyle and Sharpe are great. About 20 years ago I reached out to Mal's daughter to ask if she had any unreleased recordings. Unfortunately not but she did give me permission to share his stuff on my blog back when it was much harder to find.
