Apple Carplay and Google Maps and a nice new Camry

I have just become the proud owner of an (almost) new gorgeous cherry red Camry. I use Google Maps through my iPhone and Apple Carplay with only one problem: if I'm playing music, and using turn by turn navigation in Google Maps, the music does not appear to be paused when Maps gives a direction. I hive googled this but there isn't any obvious setting for it. Simple, seemingly, but Google isn't offering an answer, so far as I can see.

(1) This is specific to Google Maps. Apple Maps has a setting. If I can't find the corresponding setting in Google Maps, I'll be dumping Google Maps, in the car at least.

(2) "Music" means only music on the iPhone. I don't use any of the streaming services.

In Google Maps navigation settings you can turn off "play voice over Bluetooth". The navigation cues will play directly from the phone, everything else will go through the car system. Clunky, but it works in my car...

Best answer: I'd recommend at least trying Apple Maps.

Apple Maps was pretty rough when it launched, but it's gotten so much better over the years. I find it to be easy-on-the-eyes, and that it gives good directions (at least in the US).

Response by poster: Thanks all. @Vitout: here (Australia), it does at least one thing that Google Maps doesn't: it shows traffic lights. That's almost enough on its own.
