How to raise money for somebody else

I want to raise money for a person who's lost his job. Apparently GoFundMe isn't available in South Africa, which is where I am.
Any advice on this? Either general advice on how to go about this, or specific platforms for gathering online donations? He's not very technically competent, so anything that requires a PayPal or similar account is not going to work. He does have a South African bank account.
I'd like to organise something that can accept donations from overseas, as that will at least make the best of our terrible exchange rate.
