Writer and Artist's residencies

I'm interested in potentially applying for writer and artist's residencies, ideally in non-US places (I'm a US citizen). I would like to lay the groundwork for this now.

I'm interested in hearing about places to learn about residencies, about specific residencies, and anything else someone who hasn't done this before should know. I see this as a future timeline thing in my life, not necessarily an immediately thing.

Did not know this was a thing but it turns out there are pages of results just for NZ.

Have a look at Fogo Island / Shorefast Foundation in PEI, they accept non-Canadian applications afaik.

The few NZ ones I know of are citizen/ residents only, but I only know of a few.

I had great luck using Google search operators. Try this to include several word variants:

(list | database | spreadsheet) (writing | writer's | writer) (residency | residencies)

You can also append "after:YEAR" to filter results by date. For example:

(list | database | spreadsheet) (artist | art) (residency | residencies) after:2018

If you speak a little Spanish you could try the Poco a Poco residency in Oaxaca.
