Looking to buy new slippers

Hi. Usually my questions stem from my lack of tech-savviness, but not this time. With cooler temperatures returning in my little corner of the world, and having grown tired of cheap slippers that fall apart shortly after I buy them, I'm ready to pay more in order to get a quality product designed to last.
Do you have any recommendations? Mostly I'm just looking for something comfortable that in addition to keeping my feet warm should last for years. I'd prefer it if they cover the heels. Lastly, and I'm not even sure that this is a thing where slippers are concerned, it would be a plus if they're machine washable.

Best answer: I am 8+ years into these Ugg slippers, and as much as I think Uggs are lame generally, these are absolutely fantastic. They are nowhere near the end of their lifespan. (Not machine washable; I do frequently wear them with socks, which probably helps keep them un-funky inside.)
Oops here's the men's version.

Best answer: I don't think they're machine washable, but cannot say enough good things about LL Bean's Wicked Good Slippers. Sooooo comfy and cozy, and I've had mine for maybe almost a decade and they're still my favorite moment in the day.

Best answer: Seconding the Uggs. I've got a pair of what is most similar to Scuff Romeos that have survived the last 16 years.
My fiance purchased me these birkenstock open backed slippers for me 2 years ago and I keep them in rotation as well.
Birkenstock also sells a variation that covers the heel as well. I kinda want to get a pair for work slippers since I must once more return to an office.

Best answer: I also have Bombas and love them. I wore them constantly during last year's cold season and they still look good as new.

Best answer: I mean, not machine washable, but these last forever.

Best answer: Glerups! Fantastic, durable, made of felted wool. Not washable though.

Best answer: For a long time I was a fan of LL Bean sheepskin slippers, but last year for Christmas my husband splurged on a gift of these Overland slippers and I think I’m with those for life.

Best answer: I second Miko's recommendation. I had the tab open for LLBean's Wicked Good slippers before I even fully read your question, ready to send you the link for the Good Slippers. I'm wearing a pair of them I've had for 4-ish years now. They are the cork-soled ones, so not machine washable, but durable and deliciously cozy.

Best answer: I’ve had a pair of LL Beans Wicked Good slippahs for over 20 years. The lambs wool lining on the insole has worn thin so I put in some Dr Scholls arch supports but otherwise, as good as. I like that they come up to my ankles. You can’t step into them but they keep that neglected area covered.

Best answer: You can get replacement soles for ugh slippers which makes them much longer wearing than many others in my opinion

Best answer: I also enjoy my glerups. I think "not washable" above probably is intended to mean that you can't machine wash them or saturate the felt, but they're easy enough to clean.

Best answer: My favorites are these Acorn Slouch Boot slippers. I like my ankles kept warm. My current pair has lasted about 3 years so far.

Best answer: They're not cozy, but I got Crocs for ease of slipping on to walk the dog, get the mail, etc. They make lined Crocs. I live in Maine, have worked at LL Bean. Their slippers are recommended by Wirecutter and legions of customers. I just rarely wear footwear inside.

Best answer: Nthing UGGs. I'm several years into my Ansleys (Ascot seems to be the men's version) and they're in great shape. They are desperately comfortable, and the sturdy sole allows for outdoor chores. I've had to deodorize them with a few tablespoons of baking soda once or twice, but I typically wear them with socks.

Best answer: I had some lined crocs years ago and I loved them. They since moved on to a new home and I found a pair of knock off fuzzy lined crocs at a discount store. Love those too, but not sure on the longevity.

Response by poster: Thank you everybody for your suggestions, all of which I'm carefully considering. I neglected to mention that this would be just for indoor use by the way. Thanks again!

Best answer: I've been wearing the same pair of Draper of Glastonbury's Spencers for going on 20 years, and cannot recommend them highly enough. Incredible quality and longevity. I like them for being all-season, so no shearling lining for me, but that's what they're known for.

I've been wearing mine with no sign of wear for 3 years and they are machine washable.
