My cat

#metafilterfundraiser2023. My cat, Joe, has recently become more of a jerk and I'm unsure if I should move out or not.

Joe and I have been roommates for a while and its generally been fine. He's a cat, I'm a human, we sometimes disagree, but generally we can work it out as long as we talk.

But lately Joe has been knocking my delicious homemade pies off of the table. He leaves the not quite as delicious, but still satisfactory cakes alone, but the pies are complete goners.

Tonight, we're supposed to get together with friends and play some Mario Kart. Given Joe's preference for a specific time of wet food, how would you handle this situation about the cakes and pies?

Have you tried pacifying him by making his own pies? Perhaps with blackbirds?

Also where is your cat tax, sir?

I think you should try couples therapy. It might help. If it doesn't though, DTMFA.

Is he a hep cat? Play some Miles. Maybe even Kind of Blue to relax him and take his edge off.

One thing I would never do is negotiate with a terrorist/cat. No win.

Does Joe have opposable thumbs thus rendering your can opening skills relatively useless to him? If so, I'd say move out and let Joe live his best life.

Dear MeowMeowMetafilter,

We cats know humans are annoying, but they are good for some things (like dropping treats into our food dish on command).

Recently, though, my human... Can you believe my human is taking the BEST ingredients in the house, the milk, the butter, things that belong to ME, and mixes them up and drops them all over the house (for what purpose I do not know). Well, let me say, I am trying to train my human to stop this by flinging his ridiculous creations off the countertops. What does he do? He wastes more butter, more milk, and... ugh, so annoying.

MeowMetafilter, what should I do? I have considered setting him free in the wild, or... should I try one more training session. You see, I heard that my human is planing to have a get together. When he has those guests leave their shoes in a row by the door, let's just say ... I will leave some treats for them.

Do you have any more advice for me meowmetafilter?

There are many unwritten rules in this community and one of the most respected of these rules is that if you have a cat question you need to post a picture of the cat.
Anyway, your job as a human is to continue to support your cat. You may not move out because who would scoop the poop if you abandoned your post and your many support duties?

Response by poster: Honestly I’m surprised how many people think Joe is real, with such a fantastical story told, but he actually is! Joe!
