How to go back to browsing in English

Despite my language being set to English and location being set to the US, Google has been giving me a lot of results (but not all!) in Italian, and most results for shopping searches in euros and at European retailers. However Amazon is still the US version, MF and news sites are fine, etc. I am planning a trip to Italy so something I did must have triggered this. It's weirdly inconsistent. How do I fix it?

Do you have a Google account, which you're logged into while using Google? You can see and delete your search activity via the "Data & privacy" tab in your account settings.

Response by poster: Sorry I disappeared, I've been sick for the last week and totally forgot I posted this. And at some point during the week, it went back to normal. I think this must be something to do with having used Google Translate. I have no idea what. (This is on a MacBook and it was doing it in both Safari and Chrome.)
