A blanket that looks like a net

Where can I buy an open weave blanket with LARGE weaves?

This weighted blanket is probably the closest to what I describing, however the weave holes are still too small.

A friend (who I can no longer contact) had a blanket that looked like a soccer goal net. It seemed to be weighted.

Can I buy this online somewhere? After much googling I am still empty-handed.

I would search (Etsy / the web) for “arm knitted” or “arm crocheted” blanket. An online search suggests that this became a thing especially during the “cottage core” trend.

I would think anything constructed of granny squares would do. You find throws made of small ones joined together, and I've made one of thick wool that is just one huge square. It's about 30% holes in the standard form, but can be made more loosely. If you want it to be weighty but cool, find one in cotton yarn - it's heavy and dense and doesn't have air included in the fibres that would trap heat.

If you have the skill, and more importantly the patience, it's a simple but tedious job, but that kind of old school style is quite popular right now so I would not be surprised to find it off the shelf.

Try searching for fish net crochet. A quick search found more patterns than actual blankets, but you might be able to find someone to make it for you and specify heavy weight (or even metal-core) yarn.

Perhaps you could get something like a rope hammock? It sounds like you are looking for something that is not being used for it's original purpose. Any mesh or net made from decently thick rope will be nice and heavy, as you are looking for.

I would second Etsy and add that if you find someone who has styles similar to what you like, you could ask them if they'd be willing to do a larger weave for you. Larger weaves are a faster knit so it's hard to imagine they'd say no!

If you want something more like your link, a keyword that would work is "chunky knitted" or along those lines.
