LinkedIn minor mystery

LinkedIn keeps emailing me to tell me I have a new connection request, but when I sign in I have the same three requests I haven't accepted or deleted yet. Is this a glitch or is one of these people resending their request?

Probably not the latter. LinkedIn just trying to get you to engage. If you did something with those requests, the bot would stop emailing you.

I believe LinkedIn only shows you three at a time. As you accept/decline, it'll replace them with the next request in your queue.

Linkedin has weaponized annoyance. Every time I clear out spam requests (hey, it's fake/automated summer intern season!) and everything else that could cause Linkedin to ping me, within 24 hours I get the "You're really on a roll with your career!" notification.

There's been some weirdness with LinkedIn in the past week or so. I'm not getting that particular type of message, but twice I've had a warning email about someone trying to activate Remember Me and failing because they didn't have the two-factor authentication I use.

First time, fair warning. Maybe my password leaked (even though I use OnePassword). So I changed the password a few days ago and just got an identical message an hour ago. The control panel shows no login attempts at all.

I get messages from salespeople with a clickable link to reply, asking for more info -- which LinkedIn emails me about, calling it an invitation.

They're just trying to drive engagement.

LinkedIn is not the most respectful organization. Previously they were suspected (confirmed?) of selling user data so it's not a stretch to realize they will spam users. While too many feel LinkedIn is viable, more and more are coming to the conclusion they are little more than Facebook for the naive in the business community.

Response by poster: Thanks! If it's helpful :
- I can see more than 3 requests at a time. But just in case it's something like that I cleared all but one out.
- I know LinkedIn sends a bazillion emails, I'm only curious about what prompts emails that I have a "new invitation". The messages with links is a good theory.
- thanks for calling me naive?
