Where to stay for Phoenix-area golf trip?

I've got a foursome going to PHX next Super Bowl weekend for a golf trip. What area of the city should we stay in to maximize ease of access?
We'll be renting an AirBnB and probably will want to play higher-end courses. It's been a long time since I've been to the Phoenix/Scottsdale area, so just trying to get a sense of what section of the region we should plant ourselves in. Bonus points for proximity to fun areas (like Old Town Scottsdale?) or other areas you might suggest.
It seems like there are golf courses just about everywhere, so I'm looking for a local (or frequent visitor/golfers) perspective.
