How can I safely dispose of CBD gummies?

I was given a lot of CBD gummies to try, but they’ve never really helped me. They are unlabeled so I can’t give them away because I don’t know/remember the THC/CBD percentages. We do have composting though our recycling company. Is that the way to go? I’m in California.

Most pharmacies in California have a bin near the pharmacy counter for unused prescriptions (to keep them out of wastewater). They ask that you place the drugs in unmarked plastic bags. I would do that. I have done that--I always feel like a criminal when I am transporting the pills to the pharmacy, so if I have something that is very controlled (like oxycontin) I will carry it to the pharmacy in the prescription bottle and then empty the bottle into a bag in the parking lot and carry that in so I don't have visions of being pulled over with a baggie of Oxy. Oh, and speaking of being pulled over, most police stations have a similar setup (call the non-emergency line to check).

Clearly label them "CBD GUMMIES. CBD % = ??? THC % = ???" and put them out in a free pile or your local little free food box.

Kids use the free food pantry in my neighborhood. While they would likely spit out CBD gummies for tasting bad, this is exactly the kind of thing that would delight the huffy neighbors who oppose the pantry and get it shut down. Just ask adults directly if they want them.

Give them away to adult friends, for sure. Many many people who use cannabis recreationally would be happy to experiment.

Do NOT put them in a pantry! Food pantries in my area are frequented by a lot of people who don’t read, don’t speak English, would have no idea what THC or CBD are, or they’re mentally ill / have dementia and should probably cool it on the substances in case of a confusing bad trip or interaction with a prescription. So don’t put them out in a free-for-all setting!

You definitely can't just fling them to the wild. My CBD gummies are delicious, I wish someone would make a sour gummy candy as good as those are, and...just yeah, no, don't leave drugs out for children, animals, or people who can't understand what they are.

If you don't want to give them away, call your dispensary and ask what the local regulations are for disposal. I'm sure they know.

I have no experience with CBD other than seeing it everywhere, including the grocery store. And being offered it by strangers. Just lots of experience with giving things away and not liking waste. I take that part back, please don't let my answer derail the thread too much.

Best answer: While they would likely spit out CBD gummies for tasting bad,

The CBD gummies I get are delicious. Like I wish they came with a bag minus the CBD so I could just eat them. Do not count on the flavor of CBD gummies to cause anyone to spit them out.

I would not even think twice about composting them. Chop them up really small or pulse them in a food processor with some vegetable scraps.
