Attn Fans of The Good Wife: obscure music question
March 24, 2023 10:06 AM   Subscribe

Every once in a while on The Good Wife, the characters would have to watch some sort of HR training film, and these films had a particular musical theme that became a running joke in our house, something we'd hum whenever someone did something "inappropriate." Anyway, we've just realized that no one remembers the tune any more...

I don't really feel like rewatching the series, so I'm hoping someone here can point me to a specific episode or maybe record themself humming the tune or plinking it out on the piano or even transcribing it into music notation.

IMDB says this company did the music editing for the show, maybe email or call and ask them?

Are you sure it was The Good Wife? I don't remember that from the show. Not that I totally trust my memory for a show from years ago, but figured I'd ask since that would certainly hamper any google searches you've tried.

I've been binging TGW (and now TGF) on DVD, and there's no HR training film that the characters have to watch.

The Good Wife's recurring schtick was a horribly gory cop action show where people were always blowing each other away while spouting clichéd quips.

Response by poster: This passage (from a review of the "Ringtone of Doom" episode) is a good match to what I remember: "making everyone in the office take one of those sexual harassment seminars with those hilariously terrible nineties videos with voice-over and synthesizers. Perfect music."

So I'm pretty sure I'm not making it all up!

Yes, I absolutely remember that tune from the sexual harassment episodes. I think Ringtone of Doom was the first episode it was in, and then it popped up again a few more times. Sorry, I can't find it online, but I definitely agree it happened.

Response by poster: hydropsyche, do you remember it well enough to hum it?

The other answers were making me doubt myself, so I'm glad to get confirmation of my unreliable memory. Gotta admit, though, that I have absolutely no recollection of a recurring cop action show!

Sorry, I wish I did. It definitely reminded me of educational filmstrips in elementary school. If you're in the US, the whole show is on Paramount Plus. It might be worth paying for a month's subscription just so you can watch that episode. I think it occurred at the very end of the episode.

Response by poster: Thanks, hydropsyche. Yup, they're offering me a 7-day trial of Paramount+. I don't want to waste it on one TGW episode though. Gotta make a list of P+ shows we can binge for a week!
