Show YouTube videos of WordPress Index

I'm new to WordPress and am using the out-of-the-box template Twenty Twenty-One.
I know how to embed a Youtube video on a post but the embed does not show up on the index/homepage. Just a link on the title. I'd like the whole post to show up, including the embed.
I know there is an except field but that doesn't seem to work either for this purpose.
Is there an easy way to make the embed show up on the index page or perhaps a plugin?
Thanks.
Response by poster: Oh great idea. I will try.

Response by poster: Empress - what block to you use? Embed? Do you put in the whole iframe address? What's the workflow? Thanks.

Best answer: I responded to your email, but for other user's sake -
1. Get to the end of the paragraph I want to come before the video and hit "enter" to start a new paragraph. That also brings the cursor to the point where I want the video to be.
2. Open the page with the youtube video I want.
3. On the page with the youtube video, find the button on the bottom right under the video that says "Share". Click that.
4. On the "Share" menu that pops up, the first option says "Embed". I click that.
5. A new menu pops up with a screen with the video on the left, and on the right is a string of code that begins "< iframe width = yadda yadda yadda".... " Under that is the word "copy". I click that.
6. That highlights the entire string of code, and I get a message that says "link copied to keyboard."
7. I go back to the Wordpress post, check whether the cursor is where I need it to be, and do a Ctrl-V to "paste".
I don't specify a block at all when I'm doing my posts, I've never really seen the need.

Response by poster: Mine works only if I put the embed code in the except, which is fine. Thank you so much.
