Seeking short story: people choose the animals they turn into

I'm sure I read this in 2022, and in an issue of Catapult, but nothing is coming up - I definitely read it online. Two extremely good friends, both women, deal with the entire human race being asked (by God?) to pick the animal they want to live the rest of their lives as. Lots of food references. Female author, I think.

I remember various details - there were long descriptions of meals, and of the two of them singing a song at the very end. I thought it might be one of brainwane's brilliant posts but I can't spot it there either. Ring any bells?

The (excellent) film The Lobster includes people getting to choose which animal they’ll become… the film doesn’t fit the rest of your description tho.

Pretty sure this was not Catapult, for what that's worth—I talked to the editorial team there and they don't remember it.

Response by poster: I just found it! Guernica, not Catapult - stupid brain! - it's D Day by Rachel Khong . Thanks everyone for your help, hope you give the story a go and enjoy it, I'm going to re-read it now.
