Radio heads, help me find a Grundig S350 antenna, please!

I have an ancient Grundig S350 radio (Amazon exemplar) that's perfect, except for its broken antenna. Sounds like a simple replacement, right? But no.

My poor telescoping antenna has snapped, and it is not a standard size. I'm not sure how to measure this either, other than holding the old one next to a potential replacement, and I suddenly miss Radio Shack, as two tries at buying from Amazon have failed.

Grundig is now evidently Eton, which does not appear to offer replacement parts (happy to be wrong on this). I think that the other swappable antenna is from a Tecsun BCL2000. Having trouble finding that one, too.

Please help me replace my telescoping antenna. FM reception is all I really care about, and I would much rather have a telescoping whip antenna than mess around with wires. I did see this, but don't completely follow the "external FM antenna." Sources? Any other suggestions?

Best answer: I would check with Anon-Co who sell Tecsun products and have been very responsive when contacted.

The antenna is rotated in the wrong direction for the screw head to be visible at your Amazon link, but the telescoping part of the antenna is attached to the base with a screw passing through a tab at its base on every similar antenna I’ve seen, and if you remove that screw the telescoping part slides right out of a slot on the tiny radar dome shaped piece at the base.

This is a very common way of attaching the antenna, and I think you could very easily find a compatible antenna part on many rabbit ear television antennas such as you might find in bins at electronics stores or thrift stores. You might have to add a shim to make it tight enough to hold in every position you put it in, but you could take the broken part with you to match the thickness of the tabs.

Beautiful radio by the way, and with the collapse in quality of Sony 'world band' radios, I doubt you could replace it with an equally good new one.

Response by poster: Ndfine, Anon-Co was, indeed responsive! I have an unreasonable affection for this little radio and am delighted that it will be improved. And thank you, jamjam; I bought this radio for a song, just because I liked its look. I am pleased to know it’s a war horse! And thanks, tafetta, darling!
