Two months' worth of messages on a WhatsApp group just disappeared

Two months of messages just disappeared for me on a WhatsApp group that I'm in. They disappeared for me both on my phone and on my computer. I quit and reopened the app on both devices, and the problem persists. Strangely, they're still searchable. They don't show as "deleted", so along with them still being searchable, I'm pretty sure nobody intentionally deleted them. Still, how can I get them back?

Has the whole group disappeared? Could you have accidentally archived it?

Response by poster: So it looks like I was able to get most of it back by searching for a word that came up in the missing conversations, clicking on the search result, and scrolling up and down. Still, how can I know for sure if this restored everything? It wasn't archived, by the way; thanks for the suggestion.
