Positive versus negative political fundraising

I along with everyone else who has ever donated a dollar to a campaign am currently being absolutely deluged with desperate appeals for money. Every single one seems to try to push that it is a CRISIS, RIGHT NOW. While this may drive a certain subset of people to give money, has there been any research into the effect this constant fear based messaging has on voters views on a party or on politics in general?

I found this article to be very helpful in understanding the world that online fundraising has created

I don't know of any research per se, but Anand Giridharadas' new book The Persuaders touches on this. He's used it as a talking point on shows, saying when was the last time you got an email asking you to take part in the community, to have a sing-a-long, BBQ or even just a conversation with like minded folks?
He says AOC is among the very few politicians that engage in positive messaging, rather than the clickbaity, passive aggressive stuff. I'm guessing he had research to back it up.
