Shampoo Heartbreak

My Trader Joe's is not selling my favorite shampoo, the nourish spa shampoo. A lot of shampoos make my scalp itch, but this one is great. It might be the terpenes (fragrance) that was doing it. Does anybody know what similar shampoos are out there?

I definitely just spent a small fortune to stock up on ebay, but that won't last. I don't love the scent of nourish spa, but discomfort from other shampoos always brought me back. Maybe the Trader Joe's shampoo was a knock off of another shampoo to start with?

Best answer: Supposedly this shampoo is made by Giovanni's as their 50:50 Balanced Shampoo and repackaged under Trader Joe's label. I didn't compare the ingredients list but take a look and see.

I really like The Body Shop's scalp care shampoo, as it's the only one I've found that doesn't make my scalp itch. Smells faintly of ginger, but it's not a strong scent at all.

If you want to do some detective work, sometimes you can to go a beauty shop (like Sally's) and peruse the shampoo section for a bottle that looks verrrry similar to the Trader Joe's one. Sometimes the manufacturer doesn't do the best job of hiding that they're just relabeling their stuff for TJ's.

MCI/MI are the ingredients that are really irritating for me, and looks like Nourish Spa was MCI/MI free. It’s really hard to find MCI/MI free shampoos and conditioner. Neutrogena and Aveda are the only consistent brands. The former is hard to find now; latter is expensive.

I switched to Kristin Ess unscented shampoo and conditioner recently and was pleasantly surprised to discover that my forehead is much less broken out and my scalp feels better.

Both the shampoo and conditioner are available at Target and Ulta, as well as Amazon.

Timely question since I was looking for a new shampoo. Giovanni's is asking a fortune for shipping for the 50:50 Balanced Shampoo. On Amazon, if you order two 8oz bottles, shipping is only $1.99.
