How to get Amazon Echo to show day and date?

I'd like my Echo to show the day and date on the home screen. Currently only shows time and temperature.
FAQs are outdated and actually don't even address this as far as I can figure.

I checked my Echo Show first gen and there was no such option.
Search of Amazon brought this up:
>>The only way to get the date visible on your screen on a Echo Show 8, is to activate Night Mode. Go into Settings, Wallpaper & Clock, Night Mode, Nighttime Clock. You can even schedule it.

Response by poster: I can see that this option will turn on date and day but not steady - it floats on and off at random. I didn't know about this forum. So thanks for taking the time to look this up and show me this forum, I will comment on that thread.
Thanks!
