Fashion related events in the Seattle?

One of my kids is very interested in fashion, costumes, unconventional clothing. They loved the costumes in Everything Everywhere All at Once, for example, have amazing skills at thrifting, and have made costumes from scratch for a con. What are some interesting places we could visit in the Seattle area? Museum exhibits, unusual fabric stores, etc.

MOPOP currently has an exhibit on Afrofuturism in costume design. I haven’t seen it yet, but past MOPOP costume exhibitions have been great.

MOHAI does a yearly Fashion Lecture in Fall, and "Behind the Seams" garment viewings throughout the year. The next one is coming up in September, on the 1962 World's Fair.

University of Washington’s costume department has had a good reputation over the years. Check for public talks or open studios.

Seattle Fabrics is a great specialty shop for utilitarian material, with patterns and findings. Possibly not open for IRL browsing yet?
Seattle Central's apparel programs used to have shows - the hallway near the studio was nearly a show much of the time! - they’d be worth calling to ask.

I am not a fabrics or costume person, so take this rec with a grain of salt, but… I love visiting the Pacific Fabrics store on 4th Ave South! Close to downtown but plenty of parking, it’s a big fabric store in an industrial building that appears to have changed very very little in the last 50 years. Lots of different fabrics, tho (as stated above) I can’t really say how the selection might compare to other stores. Very authentic place tho.

Check out the Red Light on University Ave, and they may be able to point you to other stores that specialize in vintage clothing. There's also great thrifting at the store behind the Fremont PCC.
On Capitol Hill on 11th between Pike and Pine, there is a vintage athletic-clothes store, and the gallery Vermilion will host local cutting edge fashion shows every couple months, the show is called Imminent Mode and you can find that on Instagram and such.
Pike Place Market has two brick and mortar stores, Our Fabric Stash and So Much Yarn, and many many jewelry, clothing, and accessories vendors.

The Seattle Opera regularly has events where visitors can interact with the costumes and see how stagecraft comes together. Looks like the next open house is September 24!
