Looking for Freelance Writing Gigs

I have extra time, extra bills, and experience with medical freelance writing, mostly for consumer publications. Where should I go to pick up some gigs? Upwork not preferred unless it's either super easy or super well paid (don't like the idea of the middle man taking my wages). I'm also open to writing in different areas that use the same skills.

Maybe you know this already, but the American Medical Writers Association has a lot of resources for freelancers, and you could create a listing in their freelance directory.

Where are you based? worth seeking out Sian Meades-Williams newsletter for freelancers that has plenty of fun opportunities for freelance writer / editor / pr people. All heavily biased to the UK though.
