A martial arts movie from a more modern Era with a fight scene in a green bamboo forest where the fighters run up and down bamboo trees, more below....
For some reason I thought it was one of the scenes of jet li's hero... It would've have fit in. The fight scene in question is gorgeous and green and has lush rustling bamboo sounds..... That's really all I can remember. Fight in a bamboo forest.

Response by poster: Damnit. I was SURE it wasn't crouching tiger hidden dragon. That was exactly the scene, thanks sacrifix.

I think House of Flying Daggers has something similar, but I remember it being more about being a "green" setting than the acrobatic stuff in Crouching Tiger.

While we're mentioning things that aren't it, A Touch of Zen (1971)--an acknowledged influence on Crouching Tiger--also has a famous bamboo forest fight scene.

They don't really fit your description, but you made me think of a couple of beautiful battles in bamboo groves from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. E.g. when Shang-Chi's parents meet, Shang-Chi sparring with his aunt (Shang-Chi's aunt is also Michelle Yeoh!)
