Nonprofits challenging book bans

I'm looking for smaller nonprofits challenging the book bans around the country. I know the ACLU and the CBLDF are out there; are there smaller, regional organizations where I can donate money? Thanks!

There's a group of residents suing the Llano County Public Library in Texas.

The Brooklyn Public Library has launched their Books Unbanned effort -- anyone in the US ages 13-21 can apply for a free BPL eCard for a limited time, which will allow them to access hundreds of banned and challenged books in digital and audiobook formats.

You can donate to the initiative here: https://donate.bklynlibrary.org/give/387995#!/donation/checkout

Best answer: I wouldn't point someone towards the ACLU or CBLDF first - I'd point them to the libraries and associated nonprofits.

Neither of these is regional but they are both nonprofits who work closely with regional groups (and both do a very good job):
*EveryLibrary (see their recent blog post for what they do on book bans in particular)
*the American Library's Association's Office for Intellectual Freedom (the work of this office is how you know which books are 'most banned' every year and ultimately this is who a lot of libraries end up working with). If ALA itself is too big, try its affiliated Freedom to Read Foundation

If you'd really like something regional, try the Texas Library Association's Whitten Intellectual Freedom Fund. They're one of the best run and most efficient library associations in the country - and they're going to need every bit of help you can give them as they are supporting libraries facing a LOT of challenges right now.

Best answer: We Need Diverse Books, an excellent organization that has changed the kid lit business immeasurably, is sending care packages to LGBTQ kids.
