French Modernist Novel

Does anyone remember the name of this French science fiction/modernist novel.

The only details i remember is the protagonist seeing what are eventually revealed to be holographic (I think this predates actual holography?) recordings of people? He sees two suns in the sky at one point and I think one of them is a recording being played back. There is also a recent darkwave band named after the protagonist.

Best answer: Could it be The Invention of Morel? Although it's originally in Spanish, not French.

Response by poster: so it turns out I have been conflating two books and I’m still not sure about that one (the very point of my asking the question, sadly.) if i figure it out i’ll update.

Best answer: Had a brainstorm and figured it out w the help of a fellow mefite. the other book is Locus Solus, the protagonist is Martial Canterel and here’s the music named after him.
