Help my virtuouso blues guitarist friend from New Mexico find a new musical community after moving to the Kent, WA area

I lived in the mountains of Northern New Mexico for years, and became good friends with one of the most virtuoso and soulful electric blues guitarists I have ever heard. He had his own band that played at bars and homes throughout the mountains, and he was very happy with his musical family (and he brought a lot of musical joy to our community). After living there for decades, he and his wife last year had to move from New Mexico to the Seattle area (Kent), for health reasons (the high altitude wasn’t working for his lungs). He would like to find a musical community to join in his new area. He is not looking for exposure whatsoever. He's just looking for a place where he can play his guitar and find other musicians to jam with. He's kind of shy, and probably feels a bit overwhelmed in the big city, so I decided to post this for him. It's a shame that there is this smokin' blues musician there with his talents not being utilized. Does anyone have any suggestions for how he could find a musical community to join near Kent, WA? He's a great guy in his fifties, a true gentleman, and he brings musical bliss to wherever he plays.

Best answer: Not sure if this will be the perfect "home" fit but he should definitely check out The Royal Room, a lovely venue in Columbia City (south-ish Seattle) that has a few jam sessions and open mics per month.

KNKX's John Kessler hosts their All Blues show and frequently highlights local artists and events. There's also the South Sound Blues Association to check out. Tell him good luck and welcome!

+1 to the Royal Room. It's a great room and lots of great players play there.

I would suggest finding some open mic nights around town. He will meet a variety of musicians.
