You keep me hangin' on

I have a narrow file cabinet in my desk, and I somehow lost track of the metal bar that would let me hang folders left to right. Manufacturer no longer makes that piece. Googling to find a replacement makes me wonder if I'm not understanding something...

The cabinet already has a frame for hanging, but the bar is removable to allow you to hang front to back, letter size (without the bar), or left to right, legal size (with). I have a bunch of legal-size pendaflexes I'd like to hang, but no bar. The length between the notches on each side of the frame that the ends of the bar would rest in is 9.5". Everything I can find online seems to be far wider, for those gigantic Steelcase office filing cabinets. Is there some magic phrasing I'm not using?

Best answer: Is this anything like what you're looking for?

Best answer: Yeah, these things are often meant to be customizable--you can take the plastic ends off, cut the bar with a hacksaw, and replace the ends to make a rail that fits your drawer. The link above has some that you can specify your length and they'll cut for you. Or you could get something like this frame to go inside the drawer, if it fits.
