Shower shaving sholutions

I shave (my face) in the shower. In the past, I've used a fog-free mirror that has a little hook that holds my razor and attaches to the tile wall with 3M command strips. But the new tile is textured and the command strips won't stick to them very well. Any recommendations for something I can get to replace my old mirror and razor holder?

The new shower has textured tile walls and I don't think that suction cup solutions will work for me. As well, I've tried suction cup holders and they always seem to fall more often than I'd like. There's also a little "niche"—a small build-in shelf that holds shampoo, etc.

I'd like to avoid something like a shower caddy that hangs from the shower head if at all possible, but if it is the only option, so be it.

If there's an additional hook to hang something like a luffa from, that's great, too.

Sugru should work great for this.

When I lived in places with shower curtains on a rod I hung my mirror (regular hand mirror) from a cheap curtain hook. When I moved into a house with a glass walled shower I bent the hook wider open and just hung it over the top of the glass frame. Splashing hot water on the mirror heats it enough to keep it from fogging long enough to shave, possibly requiring a resplash halfway through.

Pro tip: a plastic cup that lives in the shower is good for mirror splash water, razor softening water, and razor head cleaning water between swipes.

Seconding Sugru, and also consider E6000. It works like an epoxy and cures overnight, but you can remove it when you need to by sliding a knife blade or straight edge under it and popping it off. Apply the E6000, then tape the fixture to the tiles and leave it overnight/24 hours while it sets. Remove the tape, and go on with your life until you don't need the fixture anymore.

Bonus: as long as you keep the unused portion of E6000 in the refrigerator (<50 degrees), it never sets, so you can use one tube forever.

The E6000 sounds a lot like the silicone adhesive that came with my shower mirror. But you just squirted it out on the back and hold it in place for a minute or so. Want to remove, slide a putty knife or similar under it and pry it off. Scrape any residue with a razor blade or some scrubby pads. I'm surprised the tape worked with all of the moisture. Mine's the kind that you warm up with hot water and then fill up a slot in the back to keep the mirror hot enough to not fog up, so it's pretty heavy.

If you have tile up the walls, that ends a while before the ceiling (in many applications it's about a foot from the ceiling), get a spring-loaded extensible curtain rod and put it wall-to-wall resting on the tile. You could then hang a small mirror and/or other things from it. Usually handles a fair amount of weight - when our dryer was out of commission we could hang 4-5 T-shirts from the washer on it

Another thing you might look into is one of those tension rod floor-to-ceiling shower caddies, which can provide a non-permanent mounting surface. I use this one from simplehuman and it's been bulletproof, but cheaper options also exist.

Sounds like we have the same shower mirror!

It has been with me through several showers, the last two didn’t work with Command strips, so I just hot glued it to the wall. When it was time to move, pour a bit of isopropyl alcohol on the hot glue and it pops right off.

2nding hot glue in this instance. it will work perfectly for this application and will peel off easily when you move or if you need to reapply some day. I'd be sure to use low temp.
