Identify tea set

Can anyone tell me more about this tea set? Pictures here are the company logo on the box, printing on the box, and the set shown when the box is opened. The top of the tea pot is a little animal.

Google Translate app was of no use, sadly.

I believe it's from Japan, and probably intended as a toy for children, not for fancy use.

Thanks!

I may have a line on it. Back in an hour or so...

It's Chinese, the animal is a panda, and the teacups are bamboo. Probably sold as a souvenir, not for kids.

Too many false positives with other bear related sets. Is there no mark on the bottom of the teapot?

More specifically it's Traditional Chinese, so it's likely from Taiwan.

Response by poster: You're right, the cups look like bamboo segments, and the bear on top of the pot looks like a panda laying on its back with a piece of bamboo. The sides of the pot show pandas and bamboo shoots.

Dang, nailed it!

How much would a set like this cost?

I've seen similar sets in Asian supermarkets. Probably $45-60? Cheaper in China, I'm sure.

I concur with Sar that it’s likely Chinese because of the pandas. It’s an unusual design for a Chinese tea set because traditionally the tea cups do not have handles and both the pot and the cups look on the larger end of what I usually see. The combination means it was likely produced for export/tourists instead of domestic use. It might be possible to tell you more about it if you post a picture of the teapot from the side with something for scale.

The box says “ 你的陶器 我的經典”, which Google translates as “your pottery my classic”.

It’s not a particularly high end set - those are made out of yixing clay, porcelain, or stoneware - but it looks perfectly serviceable unless the spout is drippy or there’s something wrong with the inside of the pot. A set like this usually has a piece of ceramic with a few holes to filter out loose leaf tea while pouring, but may have a mesh strainer or nothing at all instead.
