Is there a way to automatically DM message around 200 people on twitter on a weekly basis?

I post a weekly trivia question on Twitter. In the announcement post, I said that people could like the post to get a reminder DM about the trivia question. Annoyingly, about 200 people have asked for this reminder. I used to send these messages manually, but I would like to automate this if possible.

Is there a way to send a message once a week to a couple hundred of opt-in people without doing it manually? I don't want to run afoul of any Twitter spam filters, but I would like to keep sending these reminders if possible.

This sounds like something Twitter would try to actively discourage, however useful it might be in your case.

Pardon me if this is too obvious and you’ve already discarded it as an option, but: what about just running a Twitter account that only posts these reminders, and people can just subscribe to that, opt in to notifications for new tweets (the little bell icon), or keep up with it in whatever other way they like?

Simpler still, just create an account that posts only the actual trivia questions, to which people can subscribe or get notifications from as above. A notification is a reminder, one that costs you zero time to maintain over and above what it already takes to post the questions.

Response by poster: Thank you for the suggestions, but for reasons I can't explain, the weekly trivia question needs to come from an account which is active with a bunch of other stuff, so the twitter notification settings won't work.

Fair enough. But what stops you going the route recommended by Ryon, where only the reminders and not the questions themselves come from a different account?

I think you can create a Twitter community to do this — create a “community” and add everyone

A quick Google for “Twitter DM bot” gave a good number of results, especially some with “free” in the title.
