Brushed cotton night shirts that won't let me down

Please help me find a long sleeved, short, soft nightshirt (for women) with stretch. More details and special requirements inside.

I have spent too much money on Amazon, Victoria's Secret, and at a handful of other places, but the much desired night shirt evades me. I keep throwing them out or returning them or just generally complaining about them. The closest I've come to the ideal night shirt is a Charter Club "brushed cotton" nightshirt from Macy's, BUT - DISAPPOINTMENT: It has buttons down the front that constantly come unbuttoned. If I were handy I'd sew those buttonholes shut and it would be perfect.

It does not have to be super warm, but I don't want flimsy, really thin, or modal. I think flannel is out because of the stretchy requirement - the semi-stiffness of flannel has never appealed to me. I do want SOFT though. My arms get cold at night, so long sleeves are required. "Brushed cotton" may be the key, but all the ones I find have buttons (which make me nervous after this Macy's one) or are too long, or short sleeved, or or or....

Please. Point me to the right one and I will be a lifelong customer. I will build a shrine in my garden to the maker of the special night shirt. For a good 15 years I wore long sleeved night shirts from Victoria's Secret but their more recent ones feel cheaper, less soft, fall apart more, so I'm avoiding them unless you can point to a specific one.

I am located in the Eastern US and prefer to do all shopping online. Amazon may have the right one, but they have so much that it feels like I spend hours searching and walking away with nothing.

How long do you want it? Or more specifically how short can you stand?

What about something like this from Vermont Country Store? They've got some other options as well - many have buttons, but I'm not sure if those are functional or just for decoration.

This is not exactly the one I have from Target, but it is rayon-spandex and seems roughly as comfortable as the one I have.

Universal Standard is great quality and so soft and comfortable. Would this night shirt be a candidate?

Depending how long is long, Wittmann Textiles' Tee-PJ nightshirts. They are 100% cotton, have no side seams, and are made of a baby rib knit that's super stretchy and non-binding. Most of their nightshirts are made in the U.S.A., but not the "Ladies Fitted Cotton Sleepshirt." I have probably two dozen of the U.S. made ones, and they last a really long time. The darker colors are thicker.

The above one from Target is immediately what I thought of when you listed your requirements.

Soma sleepshirts, like this one.

Only nightshirts I will ever wear.

I have owned a bunch of these sleep shirts; I preferred short sleeves but otherwise they are exactly the same. Soft, short, definitely stretchy, and they lasted forever.

Response by poster: For length I was looking for something just above my knees.

Response by poster: Now that I am not on my phone... Yes, I looked at the Vermont Country store, but they all seemed a bit too long. I did look online at Target right after I posted this - I've looked in the stores and never found anything, but they had a "cozy" soft night shirt I ordered just to try. They also had some made by "Softies" that looked interesting but they were $99. If anyone has tried those let me know - the $99 is hard to spend on a nightshirt without any recs. I keep looking at Cuddlduds site because thumbholes in a nightshirt sound amazing, but they only have the top/bottom types, and I want something that goes further than my waist.

I will look more at Soma, and the Wittman Textiles ones look like they might fit the bill. Also - anderjen I am so glad you said that. I kept seeing those on Amazon but being afraid to try and end up with something I hated. It helps to know they worked for you, and I may order one to try from there as well.
